On November 19th and 20th, 2025, at the annual event Emagister Conferences we have presented the 11th Ranking of Online Higher Education (FSO) in which more than 260 institutions of Spain, Latin America and the United States through surveys of program managers and analysis of web metrics. In addition, more than 4,000 surveys of students and graduates, in order to know their level of satisfaction and employability.
Over these eleven years, the profile of institutions offering online higher education has changed profoundly. In the early years of the FSO Ranking, large schools specializing in distance learning, located mainly in Spain, the United States, and Colombia, predominated. Today, the landscape is much broader and more dynamic.
In recent years have added so much small business schools like large universities which previously focused their activity on face-to-face teaching. This expansion has driven sustained growth throughout Latin Americawhere more and more countries are committed to strengthening and expanding online higher education.
The diversity of participating institutions and the breadth of data collected reflect an expanding sector that continues to consolidate itself as an essential pillar of higher education in the Spanish-speaking world.
